Bonefish Grill Menu – What to Order
As you probably already know (or can at least guess), Bonefish Grill is known for it’s top quality sea food and market-fresh fish prepared on a wood burning stove. Bonefish Grill for 11 years has based it’s dining experience on simplicity and consistency. This is reflected obviously in the Bonefish Grill menu, though the restaurant chain also takes pride in providing diners a chance to try rare and uncommon fish species and because of that, Bonefish Grill chefs are sometimes referred to as the “fresh fish experts.” Taking a look at the Bonefish Grill menu, I would say that the name is fitting and I think you will agree with me. If you haven’t taken a trip to Bonefish Grill yet, I highly suggest you do so. I have been their many times and have tried just about every appetizer, entrée, and dessert on this menu. Below the most popular items on the Bonefish Grill menu along with a brief description of what I think about them. Enjoy!
Big Bang Shrimp: By far one of their most popular appetizers, the Big Bang Shrimp are second to none. All I can say is that the name really fits, because after just one bite of these tender and crispy shrimp your mouth will feel like it’s had a big bang in it too it tastes so good! These savory shrimp are tossed in a creamy, spicy sauce that is also out of this world!
Singapore Calamari: I will be the first one to admit that generally I am not a big calamari fan. However, when I sunk my teeth into these tender pieces of calamari I almost cried it was so good. Who ever thought that my taste buds would be jumping for joy? I sure didn’t! These are friend and tossed with peppers and a sweet and spicy Asian sauce for just the right amount of kick!
Mussels Josephine: When I ordered the Mussels Josephine I really was expecting a delicious start to my dinner. However, when the order came I ended up letting the rest of my family eat most of them, because honestly they just weren’t up to the high standards Bonefish Grill sets for their meals. It might just be me, but I wasn’t impressed. The Mussels Josephine are sautéed with tomatoes, garlic, basil, and lemon wine sauce.
Maryland Crab Cakes: First let me say that I LOVE crab cakes! They are one of my favorite foods and whenever I go to a new seafood restaurant, you can be sure that’s what I order. So when I decided to try them at Bonefish Grill, I was practically praying that I wouldn’t be disappointed. Needless to say, I wasn’t! While they weren’t the best crab cakes I’ve ever tasted, they were in the top 3 and if you are a fan of crab cakes you shouldn’t visit Bonefish Grill without trying them.
Ahi Tuna Sashimi: To be completely honest, I really wasn’t sure what to expect when I first tried the Ali Tuna Sashimi. The best I can say about this appetizer is that it is just alright. In my opinion it’s not bad, but it’s not great either. I’ll still eat it, but now I only order it when I go with friends who want to try it. They are sesame seared, and sliced with wasabi and pickled ginger.
Bacon Wrapped Atlantic Sea Scallops: Here’s the deal with the Bacon Wrapped Atlantic Sea Scallops: I LOVED them…alone. They are tender, crispy and topped with chutney. However, the mango salsa that is served with them is just plain awful in my opinion. It completely ruined the bites of scallops I put it on. Without the salsa though, this is by far my favorite appetizer at Bonefish Grill. With the salsa however, it is one of the worst.
Coconut Crusted Shrimp: I’ve had a lot of coconut shrimp, and do enjoy it when I eat it. When I had it at Bonefish Grill, there was no exception. It is served with a tangy sweet dipping sauce which isn’t bad either.
Dorado (Mahi Mahi): There is really nothing more I need to say to describe the taste besides that it’s sweet, tender, and moist but firm in texture. And most importantly, it tastes great! Definitely a must try at Bonefish Grill.
Chilean Sea Bass: This is a real treat for your taste buds for sure! All you can say when you are eating this meal is “yum!” It is warm, delicious, and practically melts in your mouth. However, as I mentioned before in the appetizers section, I absolutely hate the warm mango salsa that it is served with, so I recommend you don’t even bother having the waiter or waitress bring it out with your meal. Trust me, you don’t want it to ruin your amazing Sea Bass!
Snake River Rainbow Trout: This is one of the biggest surprises in the Bonefish Grill menu! I wasn’t expecting much out of this meal as trout is either hit or miss with my taste buds. But, let me tell you that this trout must have been a direct bulls eye because I loved it. Don’t underestimate this meal because it will probably be the most tender trout you’ve ever eaten!
Ahi Tuna: Bonefish Grill brags about this on their menu that this is the “filet of the sea.” I can’t say I disagree either! This meal is amazing and the tender fish falls right off the bone and melts in your mouth. You’ll never want to stop eating!
Cold Water Lobster Tails: Let me first start out by saying that while I do eat lobster on occasion, it really isn’t in my favorite seafood items. So when I say that the Cold Water Lobster Tails were alright, you should almost take that as a complement. While it was just alright for me (someone who isn’t a major lobster fan), it will probably taste great to someone who loves lobster.
Jumbo Sea Scallops & Shrimp: By far my favorite item out of the grilled fish. These Jumbo Sea Scallops & Shrimp must be the best in all the ocean, because I honestly have never tasted better anywhere other than Bonefish Grill. If you are debating what to order, I recommend this!
Golf Grouper: Haven’t tried yet.
Norwegian Salmon: Haven’t tried yet.
Longfin Tilapia: Haven’t tried yet.
Lily’s Chicken: I’m going to be very straight and to the point and say that this meal is by far the worst of any of the Bonefish Grill entrées I have tried to date. In my opinion it doesn’t look appetizing, it doesn’t sound appetizing, and it doesn’t taste appetizing. It is made of chicken breast, goat cheese, sautéed spinach, artichoke hearts, and a lemon basil sauce. After reading that, I think you can tell why I think it tasted so nasty. Apparently some people must like it though, as it is still on the menu.
Fontina Chop: Since Bonefish Grill is obviously known for their seafood and not their pork chops, I think I highly underestimated this meal before trying it. However, I think this is the hidden gem of Bonefish Grill. Nobody would think that the pork chops would be really good at a sea food place, but let me tell you that they are lip-smackin’ delicious! It probably has to do with the fontina cheese, and the garlic, prisciutto and mushroom wine sauce in it. Yum!
Sirloin Steak & Crab Cake Dinner: One of the most basic meals in the whole Bonefish Grill menu, however it is also one of the most delicious. Maybe I’m just biased because I LOVE crab cakes in general, but this meal is one you can’t leave Bonefish Grill without trying just for the crab cakes. However, the steak was average.
The Angler’s Steak Special: I really can’t say this is more or less than your average steak. Order this if you hate seafood and are being dragged to Bonefish Grill by your seafood-loving friends. Otherwise, stick with the other entrées for a better experience for your taste buds.
Chicken Marsala: Haven’t tried yet.
Filet Mignon USDA Choice: Haven’t tried yet.
Sautéed & Baked
Imperial Longfin: All I really can say is “yum!” On a scale of one to ten with ten being the best I would rate this meal an eight. This delicacy is pan-seared, baked and stuffed with shrimp, crab meat, and lemon caper butter.
Maryland Crab Cake Dinner: If you haven’t already been able to tell from reading the other parts of this menu, you should know by now two things: I love crab cakes and Bonefish Grill’s crab cakes are AMAZING. Don’t think twice about ordering them!
Diablo Shrimp Fettuccine: Haven’t tried yet.
Pecan Parmesan Crusted Rainbow Trout: Haven’t tried yet.
Grilled Fish Burger: Hankering for a non-traditional burger? Head on over to Bonefish Grill for the best fish burger in town! I didn’t expect much of fish on a bun, but surprisingly this wood-grilled tilapia was grilled to perfection and tasted better than any beef burger could!
Big Bang Tacos: If you are a fan of Bonefish Grill’s Big Bang Shrimp, you will most likely love Big Bang Tacos! They are made up of two tortillas filled with Big Bang shrimp, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream. Combined, this makes for some happy taste buds!
Baja Fish Tacos: The first thought everyone has when they first hear fish tacos is “yuck!” However, Bonefish Grill proved to me that this is definitely not the case. These fish tacos are done “Cajun-style” and are grilled just right. However, in my opinion, in order for this meal to taste good you have to order it without the mango salsa, as I hate mango salsa and it comes automatically on the tacos unless you specifically request its removal.
American Style Kobe Beef Burger: Haven’t tried yet.
Sir Will’s Fish & Chips: Haven’t tried yet.
